Somebody Close That Door!

Somebody Clos That Door!

previous | home | next

I found this abandoned farm house while on a visit to the Dolly Sods area of West Virginia. The front door is either open or missing and the porch is in a pile of rubble in front of the house. I was told recently that this house is no longer standing - too bad!

Location/Date: Located on a hillside farm on WV Rt.72 in Randolph County, West Virginia, October, 2002.

Fantastic. Excellent balance of color, composition, and subjects. Each element adds more to the image. The only little things that bother me a bit are the fence post and weeds that get cut off on the right edge of the frame. I'd crop in just a bit or clone them out, so you don't have breaks on the border. Minor stuff.

Great juxtaposition of colours. Ammazing that the roof still looked solid.

Donna, thanks for the suggestion. I have cropped the image considerably to better feature the house.
John, it is amazing that there is such a good roof on this old house - it must have been a recent addition!

Looking at the debris, it doesn't surprise me it fell down. Glad you were able to capture this great image before she fell.

Lovely. Gorgeous composition and colours. By the looks of the piers under the house, it's no wonder its fallen down.

This is a fine picture, Bud. (I'm just catching up on your recent work.) What is it about old abandoned places that so captures us?
