Another image in my 'They Have Seen Better Days' series. This time the theme is nautical and the setting is a marina on the Potomac River in southern Maryland. There were several old yachts moored around the marina that were no longer in use. Even the dock that this yacht was moored to had no access from the shore.
We visit this location several times a year to watch the ospreys and bald eagles fish in the waters around the marina. In years past the ospreys have even built nests on the roofs of some of the decaying yachts moored at the marina. During our most recent visit this year we noted that the old yachts and other boats had been removed including the ones featured in this image. Fortunately, the ospreys and bald eagles were still present. We did see several new osprey nests built on the roofs of boat houses near the marina - you just can't keep those osprey pairs down.
The locally famous Piney Point Lighthouse, aptly named the 'Lighthouse of Presidents', is nearby and is worth a visit if you are in the area.

A fine image of this old boat. I like the foreground with the piece of debris. This has a fine near/far focus. Well done. Interesting comment too.
