This is another old farm building in the area - this time one that is being swallowed up by cattails. We found this while driving along in a rural area of the county we live in. As we were photographing this and an adjacent old barn, a farmer came down a nearby lane from a farm house. He stopped and asked what we were photographing. When we told him we were taking photos of these old buildings he just beamed and said, 'Those are mine, you know!'
I've got to quit wearing the bogus National Geographic vest and hat (jk) - he is probably still watching to see if one of the photos of his buildings made the cover! :~)

:) Love these photos! My favorite passtime used to be while long distance driving in the US - to visualize these old buildings into sparkling new structures. Great fun. Try it - the weeds disappears, the building stands tall, the rust is gone and the paint is fresh the nails are still shiny...

A fine old barn shot with the cattails in front.
The colors are very attractive. I got a chuckle out of the "vest" comment.

I like it. I'm not sure I would have seen this opportunity. I've been asked a few times if I work for the Frederick Post. People always seem a bit disappointed when I tell them i don't.

Great colors and a great choice of composition. I love the redish-brown tones.
Either those are tall cattails, or that's a very short barn. I'm thinking there may be a hill involved, but cattails usually grow in water. ???   :)

Thanks to all for your comments. Glad some of you enjoyed the bit about the NG vest.
Susan, you have a good eye - there was both a hill and water involved in this shot!

Love the colours in this shot. Id be tempted to get a closer, more abstracted shot to make more of the shapes and colours here, but this is a good one
