Sugarloaf Mountain

Sugarloaf Mountain

previous | home | next

A Fall scene at a location that we frequent. The leaf colors are at peak and really light up the woods. Tree species in this forest include red and white oak, black gum, tulip poplar, black birch and eastern hemlock. A few maple trees are scattered about like the one in the background of this shot. These woods are also prime habitat for timber rattlesnakes and northern copperheads - most have gone to den by this time of year.

Location/Date: At the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, Dickerson, MD, November 18, 2007.

This is a fine autumn-time shot. I like the color in the trees and the fallen leaves with the green moss on the rocks. Very appealing shot!

Beautiful color! In a few short weeks, the only thing bright will be the moss. (I would like to see this when the trees are bare.) Very nice.
