I have been looking for plants with interesting leaf patterns lately. This one was brought to my attention when Tony Sweet asked if I could identify it from an image he had. My wife spotted it planted along a walkway in Brookside Gardens and fortunately an id tag was nearby. It is called Persian Shield (Strobilanthes dyerianus). From this perspective, it reminded me of a purple dragon's back.

I really like the interesting perspective you chose. It reminds me of cell staining we had to do in biology to view the different components under a microscope.

This is truly wonderful! I love the details in colors and texture.
