Rising Above the Crowd

Rising Above the Crowd

This image was captured while experimenting with the 'edge on' approach to shooting flower blossoms - okay, so I was really trying to shoot goldfinches feeding on ornamental millet but they would not cooperate! Some shoots turn out that way and this was one of them (sorry, Donna!).

Location/Date: Trial Garden, Brookside Gardens, Wheaton, MD, July 28, 2007

[Nikon D200, Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 + TC-20E, 1/125s, f/11, iso 400, Nikon SB-800 flash (-2 2/3 EV) with Quantum Turbo battery and a Better Beamer with a Lee warming film over the Fresnel lens, tripod with Wimberley gimbal head II - my birding rig!]

The title really completes this image and gives is attitude. Nice one. You were more successful than I was.
