This was taken in the Conservatory of Brookside Gardens in the Wings of Fancy exhibit. It is called a Mournful Owl and is found from Guatemala to the Amazon basin (thanks to Donna Hughes for the ID and distribution information). The moths and butterflies are fed cantaloupe and other fresh fruits. The image as captured (top) had some background distractions so it was rendered a digital art creation (bottom) using the cloning tool and the dry brush filter of Photoshop CS2.

Nicely done. Your treatmen really enhances an already beautiful shot. I'm heading down to Niagara Falls next week to visit the Butterfly Conservatory. I'm homing to get a few worthy shots.

Nice job eliminating distractions, even before the PS manipulation. Those fruit plates are hard to shoot.
