Robin Fledgeling

Robin Fledgeling

previous | home | next

Found the robin chick in the top panel on the day it fledged - it was in a very cramped nest with four other chicks the evening before this shot. In the bottom panel we see this hungry chick whirling its wings like a hummingbird in excitement when momma robin drops in with a mouth full of food. It was like he was saying, 'here I am momma, feed me'!

Tomorrow is flower day!

I really like the portrait of the fledgling--especially the few feather spikes on the top of its head.
