I soon found another family of 5 goslings and their parents (top panel) on the grounds of Brookside Gardens. The 'goose lady' had obviously not discovered the nest of these little guys to oil the eggs. Unfortunately, by the following morning, one of the newly arrived fuzz balls was missing - snatched by a predator during the night, no doubt.
As a tribute to the lost one who is gone but not forgotten, I created a digital art tribute that I call 'And Then There Were Four' (bottom panel). This creation received Image of the Week honors for a Digital Creation on NatureScapes.net : http://www.naturescapes.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=100974.
On a happier note, I am pleased to report that the remaining four goslings are thriving and will be seen in future episodes of this story!
Tomorrow we will see some more photos of the now family of four goslings and their parents as they explore their surrounding in the Gardens.
(Nikon D200, Nikkor 24-120 VR @ 120mm, 1/80s, f/5.6, iso 800, hand held, the digital art image was created using Photoshop CS2 ), Brookside Gardens, Wheaton, MD, May 12, 2007
