Farewell, sweet little one!

Farewell, sweet little one!

In the top panel we see the little one at the edge of the pond next to its nest - it seems to be deep in thought. Sadly, by the morning of the fourth day there was no sign of this sweet little one. There are many predators that the new goslings and ducklings have to contend with in the Gardens, among them are foxes and snapping turtles. Near the nest was a beautiful blooming pink azalea bush and some hosta. I would like to think that this sweet little one is roaming among such beauty now and so the digital art shown in the lower panel is a tribute to it.

I have posted a video on YouTube of the little one going for a swim with momma and poppa the evening before it went missing. The link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAywVRazxCk (this link is provided in the Links section).

Tomorrow I will begin a new chapter in the 2007 Brookside Gardens gosling saga featuring a new family of 5 goslings and their parents. Stacy, a.k.a. the 'goose lady', missed their nest when she was oiling eggs.
