How are the eggs doing, Momma?

How are the eggs doing?

previous | home | next

In the top panel, the gosling seems to be pushing on momma goose to get a look at the eggs. The lower panel shows it checking out the eggs momma goose is incubating. Sadly for this gosling, none of the other eggs in this nest will hatch. The goose will continue to incubate the eggs until they rot or a predator steals them. The geese have learned over the years not to build nests on the grounds - this is probably the first year this momma goose has laid eggs. Hopefully she will build her nest on the shore of the nearby lake next year.

Tomorrow we will see this gosling testing his little wings and how it deals with a cool spring morning.
