This is the last time I saw momma duck on the nest (left panel) - she jumped back into the pool with the ducklings right after this shot. She abandoned the remaining three unhatched eggs. Meanwhile, the ducklings were still trying to figure out how they were going to get back into the nest (right panels). It must have looked like a long way back up there. Or was there an elevator door somewhere under the pot?
Tomorrow the ducklings learn the rules of the pool - how to walk and not run along the edge of the pool!

I like the image with Mom-duck still in the pot and the duckling in the water. She does seem to be looking back, as if to say good-bye to the remaining eggs.
